How to Stimulate Your Brain to Improve Memory, Capacity, and Function

How to boost your brain capacity to remember, and function.

This year I have already had a birthday, already aged another year.  Now I find myself looking to self help aides and ways to get and make the most out of the rest of my life.  Upon reading many self help magazines and books, I have put together a few that I think will help you as well.

Did you know that as we age our brains shrinks?  Well according to "Remedy"  magazine, it does.   The supply of blood that flows through brain tissue will dip and the neutrotransmitters will decrease.  As a result of this decrease, there will be an affect on your cognitive functioning.  Studies show that if you remain active, then you will be less likely to see drastic changes such as mentioned.  Regular exercise can reverse age effects.  When you exercise you are boosting your brain tissues volume, thus increasing neutrotransmitters, that replenish blood supply.

Studies show also that caffeine can boost mental capacity.  Just one or two cups of your favorite Java can boost your receptive and mental functions.  So the next time you feel the urge to sleep or stay sitting and do nothing, make you some coffee, or drink some tea.  You will not want to do too much caffeine, especially near bedtime, for it will make it difficult to fall asleep for some.  Also caffeine has been linked to irritability in adults when exceeded in amounts.

Do you have any crosswords or scrambled words?  Try making time to do those when sitting in your next doctor's appointment, or meeting while waiting.  These are good for those of us who like to stimulate our brains with knowledge and word power.  Sometimes you can learn how to spell a new word or maybe you will learn a meaning of a word, that you did not know.

Getting a good night's sleep is very important.  You should get at least six hours of sleep a night.  Getting a good night's sleep will give you the stamina and energy needed to do everyday tasks and more for all the rest.  Research has proven that we respond better when given enough sleep, so you might want to do this if you are going to have a long day at the office or a long trip to look forward to the following day.

Also, you might want to eat right daily.  Certain ways we eat can prohibit our bodies abilities.  Instead of ice cream, opt for yogurt.  Instead of french fries try baked potatoes.  Changing just a few of the high carbohydrate, and starches from your diet, as well as too much fat, can help make you healthier, and stronger, both physically and mentally.

Remember what you put into your body as well as how you treat it can make your mind and body react accordingly.  Treat your mind like it is precious and support it with all the things and ways you can.
